In March, I embarked on a journey that would change my life in ways I never imagined possible. The idea of spending my spring break in the Arctic Circle seemed almost surreal considering I live in Florida.n But that’s exactly what happened when I joined a mission trip to Norway. God completely wrecked me in the best way possible. Now I know you are probably wondering...Norway? For a missions trip? I understand that, but let me just tell you something. God is doing something powerful in Norway, and there is an awakening coming.
We set out on February 29th, a day that only comes around every four years(which I really just thought about now), and returned on March 12th. The trip was timed perfectly, but little did I know, it would mark a turning point in my spiritual journey.
There were so many divine God moments on that trip that I can’t even describe.
One of the most impactful parts of the trip was our time spent in a local mall. Now, I know that might sound ordinary, but it was far from it. We had the opportunity to worship openly, evangelize, and engage in deep, meaningful conversations with people who were curious about why a group of Floridians had traveled all the way to their snowy homeland. These moments of connection were powerful, as we saw how God was moving in the hearts of those we met. A local in Norway said that the mall we visited was seen as a dark place, but he felt a new light had been brought in with our presence.
Staying in Rosvik, we were blessed with the chance to pray over the city on one of our off days when we were on a mountain. In fact, worshiping in a mountain in Norway was one of the coolest things I have ever experienced. There is a distinct moment I remember when we were singing “The Blessing” by Kari Jobe, and I remember it was such a Holy Spirit moment when we were singing this song in a circle, and then instantly together, not planned, we shifted from the circle to face the city of Rosvik (We were so high up we could see it perfectly) as we sang “Aaaaaaaaamen, ammmeeeeennnnn”. Praying blessings over the city of Rosvik for their generation and generations to come.
The entire trip was filled with these kinds of experiences—moments where God showed up in unexpected ways, challenging my expectations and stretching my faith. I watched many of my best friends bring people to Christ and realize their call to full time missions. I also realized that on that missions trip God wasn’t just calling me to this mission trip, but full-time missions(more to come on that).
My time in Norway was more than just a spring break adventure; it was a divine appointment that I’ll never forget. Oh and I am sure many of you are wondering reading this, "DID YOU SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS?". Yes i did, and can I just tell you, a photo does not even do them justice. I remember just standing below them watching them just truly standing in awe of Jesus, not just for the northern lights, but in awe of all He has done in my life. God moved in mighty ways during those two weeks, and I’m forever changed because of it. My prayer is that wherever the Lord calls me, I will go before it is even told where. Come Lord Jesus, but if You don't come today, then send me.
And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”- Matthew 9:35-38
